ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Nutrition food service management and dietetics was started in 1997. It runs B.Sc., Nutrition food service management and dietetics course and M.Sc., Foods and Nutrition. M.sc., Foods and Nutrition was introduced during 2017. This course has been updated with the inclusion of all the latest topics available in online with UGC guidelines. In a short span of time it made rapid strides in theory as well as practical skills.
Our Qualified Faculties have achieved excellence in both teaching and research. The department has collaborative with Vaniyambadi Development Forum (VDF) to create Nutritional and Health Awareness Programme among the parents. The department has organized one day National level Webinar, Two day International Conference and Five-one day International conferences with participants from different Institutions. The department has Organized Five –Day Workshop on Fruits, Vegetable and Ice carving as a Certificate Course to develop creative thinking and practical skills. The department conducts Gastroenterology and Cardiology Medical camps in association with Madras Medical Mission. The department has built its programs oriented towards excellence and community development to shape the future. Every year our department students actively participate in Community Nutrition Survey, Hospital Internship Industrial Visits, and Cultivate vegetables using organic manure in Kitchen Garden within the campus, Preparation of Standardized recipes and Food Sale as per the syllabus, to empower their knowledge. Our staff members have published papers in leading National and International Journals.
